Testing and Assessment at DHI Ballast Water Centre

DHI Ballast Water Centre offers a broad range of testing and consultancy services. These range from laboratory and pilot-scale testing and land-based tests to scale-up modelling using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and maintenance testing.

DHI Ballast Water Centre holds a certificate of compliance issued by Lloyd’s Register and has worked with DNV, Bureau Veritas as well as ABS. We have recently received the US Coast Guard recognition as ‘independent laboratory’ together with DNV.

We have two test facilities – one in Denmark and the other in Singapore – each equipped with a separate pilot testing line. This provides excellent opportunities of early assistance to technology developers in their development process – all the way from proof-of-concept to verification of performance, prior to land-based testing.

Our land-based test facilities have access to ambient sources of natural fresh water, brackish water and high saline water. Testing can be conducted in temperate as well as tropical climates – in all seasons.
