DHI Singapore is conducting a 10-day training programme for a group of members of the Pakistan National Laboratories (Water Research and Fish Quality control Laboratories) in Singapore from 15-26 April 2013. This training is fully funded by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) under the EU-funded program ‘Trade Related Technical Assistance-II’.

The on-going training program is tailor-made to specifically suit the client’s requirements. The topics include:

  • laboratory quality management for compliance with ISO 17025
  • test methods for residue analysis (dioxins, antibiotic residues, pesticides and heavy metals)

We will repeat the same training in May for another group of professionals from Pakistan.

A representative from TRTA II – Dr. Ali Abbas Qazilbash – recently visited our office in Singapore, to discuss UNIDO’s objectives on capacity building and other EU-funded programmes. Dr. Qazilbash is the Programme Officer (Laboratory Accreditation & SPS Compliance), Trade Related Technical Assistance (TRTA) Programme, UNIDO. Dr. Qazilbash met with senior professionals in key technical areas at our Singapore office. In the course of the visit, he gained a better understanding of our overall capabilities. Moreover, he explored the possibility of future UNIDO-DHI collaborations as well.

UNIDO is the specialised agency of the United Nations that promotes industrial development for poverty reduction, inclusive globalisation and environmental sustainability.

“DHI accommodated scholars of all levels (from beginners to experts) in this training program. It is commendable how they tailor-made the session to meet our requirements. As there is always scope for improvement I would suggest that they include more practical hands on experience at an individual participant level for next time. Being, the senior among other participants here I must say that the literature was very informative. We are also very impressed by DHI’s wonderful hospitality too. Thank you!”
