Quote from DTU training course in January 2014THE ACADEMY by DHI conducted a three-week international Master’s course on Coastal and Marine Modelling in January 2014. It was carried out in collaboration with the Mechanical Engineering Department of the Technological University of Denmark (DTU).

The course (fully recognised by DTU) was held at our headquarters in Denmark and comprised the modelling of Metocean conditions as well as flooding and coastal processes. It made use of the MIKE 21 modelling package – our MIKE by DHI modelling software for offshore and coastal projects.

The course resulted in five excellent projects related to real-life coastal problems. The impact of the recent hurricane – Bodil – on Danish coasts was one of the topics studied.

DHI and the Mechanical Engineering Department of DTU have a wealth of knowledge and experience in advanced modelling and coastal engineering. Sixteen ambitious Master’s and PhD students in coastal engineering attended the course and benefitted from the combined expertise of the two institutions.
