We participate in a roundtable discussion with the President of Bulgaria

On Wednesday, 24 April, we participated in a roundtable discussion with the President of Bulgaria, Rosen Plevneliev. The Confederation of Danish Industry organised the event. Along with a delegation of representatives from Bulgarian and Danish energy, clean technology and environmental industries, President Plevneliev discussed some of the environmental and water challenges facing Bulgaria.

During the event, Jacob Høst-Madsen (Director, DHI) highlighted why we are the expert in water environments. ‘One word encapsulates what we do – water,’ said Mr Høst-Madsen. In Bulgaria, our subsidiary, DHI Bulgaria Ltd., is currently working on water master planning, as well as European Union (EU) projects related to:

• the EU Floods Directive
• the EU Water Framework Directive

Later in the day, the Bulgarian business delegation of 17 visited our head office in Hørsholm, Denmark. Antoine Labrosse (COO, DHI) and Mr Høst-Madsen met with them to discuss our work solving water challenges worldwide. They also highlighted the wide use of our MIKE software among regional water companies in Bulgaria. In addition, the group learned more about projects of interest to one of the newest members of the EU.

The delegation also received a tour of our physical modelling facilities, where Jesper Fuchs (Head of Projects, Ports and Offshore) explained one of our projects currently under way.
