MIKE Cloud Hack 2019: Three days of creative problem solving

Towards the end of October, DHI is hosting an exciting three-day long cloud hackathon event in Copenhagen. MIKE software professionals from offices around the world will come together and join forces to create, innovate and hack water challenges. The aim of the event is to support collaboration, innovative thinking and knowledge sharing.

From 29-31 October 2019 DHI is facilitating the MIKE Cloud Hack event taking place at SOHO in the meatpacking district in Copenhagen. For this event, DHI is gathering a mix of approximately 45 DHI professionals from different business units around the world. The MIKE software experts will be divided into cross-collaborative teams consisting of developers, designers and domain specialists. The teams will be challenged and presented with real customer cases within flood operations.

The objective of the MIKE Cloud Hack is to encourage cross-unit knowledge sharing and strengthen internal collaborations between DHI professionals. At DHI, we want to build a community around the MIKE software suite that invites employees to experiment and try out new technologies and innovative methods to learn and ultimately develop better solutions for customers.

'First of all, we are hosting this event to support cross-unit knowledge sharing and foster innovative thinking. However, the hackathon will also serve as a way to innovate and enhance our digital services for flood operations', explains Samia Briand Mejdi, Vice President of Digital Execution.

Three days of intense hacking and presenting solutions

The three days of hacking will cover the whole process from ideation and prototyping to development and presenting the final product. During the first day, the participants will be introduced to the different customer cases and the technology used for creating the solutions as well as start prototyping. The second day will be an intense day of hacking with focus on development of the appropriate solution. On the third and final day, the teams will finalise their solutions and prepare a pitch. Based on the pitches and best solutions, a winning team will be announced, and celebrations will sum up the whole event.
