Tech Talk Ep. 9: Measurement of suspended sediment

Monitoring its impact on water environments

Solid particles transported in the water are referred to as suspended sediments. A high level of suspended sediments may lead to serious effects such as coral bleaching (corals turning completely white due to stress) and even loss of marine habitats.

This is why it is important for us to understand how suspended sediments behave in order to protect the marine environment.

In this 9th episode of Tech Talk, coastal engineer Zhao Bing explains how suspended sediments may affect the environment and what kinds of technology are best for monitoring their behaviour.
