DHI’s successful presence at IFAT 2016

From 30 May to 3 June, DHI participated at IFAT 2016, the world’s leading trade fair for water, sewage, waste and raw materials management. Nearly 138,000 visitors from over 170 countries attended the event in Munich. We had interesting conversations with our visitors and received many enquiries for prospective partnerships which we will pursue.

DHI’s team of experts from our global offices around Europe; Denmark, Turkey, Germany, Spain, Poland, Austria as well as Czech Republic, attended IFAT 2016 to share their knowledge and expertise. We were impressed by the scores of visitors who were keen to learn more from our water experts or to seek best solutions for their water challenges.

The DHI team also took part in the various forums and headed different panels leading to many thought-provoking discussions. ‘It was amazing to see the interest in our training courses provided by THE ACADEMY by DHI. We received positive feedback on our new online courses as well’ – Henriette T. Tamasauskas, VP THE ACADEMY.

During the week, DHI, in collaboration with the German Association for Water, Wastewater and Waste (DWA), also conducted the 1st World University Challenge using Aqua Republica. (Aqua Republica is our online strategy game that encourages water stewardship by creating a realistic learning environment for sustainable water management). Teams of students from universities all over the world took part in the competition. Due to the success of this competition, the World University Challenge is scheduled to be held again in IFAT 2018 in Munich. DWA will continue to use Aqua Republica as a platform for integrated water resource management competitions during the next IFAT fairs that will take place in India, China and South Africa. Dominic Spinnreker, from DHI Germany, added that ‘the interest in serious games is growing every year and it is amazing to see the students really put a lot of thought into their strategies’.

Our presence at IFAT 2016 was a tremendous success. We were able to share our knowledge and expertise with attendees as well as interact and network with other industry leaders and potential clients for future collaborations. We look forward to creative partnerships with the networks made during the event.

‘The IFAT fair demonstrated that DHI’s knowledge and expertise perfectly meets the international needs with regard to smart water systems. We are seen as the leading provider, advisor and trainer for all kinds of water models and also as a driving force behind the digitisation of water businesses’ – Richard Vestner, EVP, Regional Director, Europe, DHI
