DHI South Africa hosts successful annual conference

DHI South Africa’s annual conference held 11 June this year generated a large amount of interest among experts in the field of water, the environment, mining, agriculture and energy.

More than 100 delegates from the private and public sectors, including several non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and funding agencies, attended the event. Notable speakers and attendees included World Wildlife Fund (WWF), Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), Eskom, Department of Water and Sanitation South Africa, Department of Water Affairs Botswana and the Climate Resilience for Infrastructure Development Facility.

The conference focused on the topic ‘Identification and Management of Water Risk in South African Development Community (SADC)’. Andrew Pott, DHI South Africa’s Business Development Manager kick-started the conference with a welcome speech and introduction. Many speakers from across different disciplines within the SADC region then gave insightful presentations during the course of the one-day event. During the afternoon session, Jason Hallowes, Managing Director of DHI South Africa also spoke on ‘Overview of Solving Problems in Water Environments’, and how DHI technology has been successfully implemented to meet client needs, both in the region and internationally.

The presentations were well received with participants interacting actively with the speakers during question-and-answer sessions. Attendees commented that the conference was very stimulating and its format was conducive for industry experts as well as existing and potential DHI clients to share their ideas and thoughts. Feedback of the event was extremely positive and many delegates expressed interest in attending a similar conference next year.

We would like to thank all speakers and participants for making this event a success.
